Moving from the production side of the industry to the broadcast side taught me one big lesson.  The market matters. Yet so few producers and crew members spend enough time and energy thinking about what that means and what they could be doing to engage that market.  

Diverse members of the industry have a very important role to play in helping the industry engage the 21st Century mainstream audience.  Session #1 prepares them for that role.
